生平
他生于伦敦，父亲是制片人JohnHeyman，母亲JohnHeyman是一名演员，其父具有德国犹太人血统，母亲是英格兰人。1983年大卫取得哈佛大学艺术史学位。
起初他担任大卫·里恩于1984年执导的电影APassagetoIndia的制片助理。1986年成为华纳兄弟公司的创作监督。1980年代后期成为联美公司副主席，之后成为独立制片人，首部制片作品为1992年的美国犯罪片Juice。1997年返回伦敦并创建了属于自己的制片公司HeydayFilms，从此制作了一系列具有影响力的电影。
